Announcing Edition 01: Ser Serpas for OTTO 958 x NewCrits
OTTO 958 and New Crits are thrilled to announce a long-term partnership, launching with a limited-edition collaborative release featuring artist Ser Serpas. The inaugural release includes an exclusive artist-designed long-sleeve top and a co-branded New Era six-panel hat, marking the beginning of an ongoing collaboration that will support critical discourse and educational initiatives. The first edition launches a new series of limited-edition clothing inspired by the NewCrits Artist Talk series hosted by founder Ajay Kurian. Each edition will respond to the tone and texture of past talks, translating shared ideas into physical form. Along with Ser Serpas, past conversations have featured artists such as Aaron Gilbert, Janiva Ellis, Sara Cwynar, and Elliot Jerome Brown Jr., each offering distinct perspectives on what it takes to be an artist today. The launch follows Serpas' participation in the group exhibition The Gatherers at MoMA PS1 and her recent solo exhibition Of my life at Kunsthalle Basel, both on view now. Her contribution to the collaboration features her distinctive handstyle alongside her 2022 sculpture "Trickled Harness baleful fall in", which appears on the limited-edition long sleeve top. The hat was developed in partnership with OTTO 958 and features the brand’s iconic “double O” mark alongside the NewCrits logo.
